Lipase

Effective February 15, 2022, analysis of lipase in serum, plasma and body fluids will be transitioned from the Siemens Vista analyzer to the Siemens Atellica analyzer at each of our three laboratory locations. Lipase measurements are used in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the pancreas, such as acute pancreatitis and obstruction of the pancreatic duct. Both assays use a similar enzymatic methodology to determine the lipase activity in the sample, however the new Atellica assay is calibrated differently resulting in a narrower normal reference range. The new reference range will be 12-53 U/L. The previous range was 65-230 U/L.
