On Wednesday, Oct. 2, staff from the Corporate Offices and the Operations Center were treated to an Employee Appreciation Luncheon. Those celebrating milestone anniversaries received recognition gifts and everyone enjoyed pizzas, salads and cookies.

A beautiful night for a walk or run at the 2024 Syracuse WorkForce Run! On Thursday, June 6, Laboratory Alliance team members joined about 3,000 others from Central New York, including Otto! We had fun and proceeds supported AccessCNY, a non-profit that offers person-centered services that empower individuals of all ages and abilities to reach their full potential.
View Album »Poppy the therapy dog visits the Operations Center
Poppy, a therapy dog from Paws of CNY, visited the Operations Center on Wednesday, May 29, to retrieve a donation made by Laboratory Alliance employees. More than $200 was raised on a recent ‘Dollars for Denim’ day held at all of Laboratory Alliance’s locations, including the rapid response lab at Crouse Hospital. Several staff members from the lab and the nearby Corporate Offices came stopped by to say hello and Poppy was rewarded with a “Laboratory Alliance swag bag” of her own.
View Album »Syracuse City School District students visit the main lab
Two students from the Syracuse City School District’s Henninger High School who are enrolled in the PTECH Clinical Laboratory Program toured Laboratory Alliance’s Operation Center today. Junior Victoria Clark and senior Daylisia Castro-Felder spent the morning at our main laboratory located in Electronics Park in Liverpool. Coordinated by our Education Coordinator Janet Clark, they began the tour by entering a requisition in Central Receiving where they learned about technical processing, then moved to Special Chemistry where Medical Technologist Sister Maria Grace Quartiero demonstrated the electrophoresis. Technical Supervisor Lisa Fingland showed them the high-tech CellaVision, reviewed urinalysis and some abnormal blood smears. In the Microbiology Department they processed plates and plate reading and in the Histology Department John McCoy, a histotech, reviewed the full process of embedding specimens, cutting the blocks and staining the slides. Their final stop was at the advanced level microscopes in the Cytology Department where Victoria and Daylisia viewed abnormal types of pap smears and lymphatic fluid.

In honor of Mother’s Day, Laboratory Alliance employees donated items for United Way’s United for Moms campaign. Personal and self-care items were collected and Bailey Masterson, development associate from United Way, left, picked up the donations at the Operations Center on Monday, May 6 with the help of Laboratory Alliance’s Deborah Reed, senior administrative assistant. Thanks to everyone who contributed!

Lab Week was not only fun but also brought a sense of pride for the incredible work we do every day despite the challenges we face.

A special graduation celebration took place at our Operations Center on Wednesday, Jan. 31 for two newly certified medical laboratory technicians. Nikkole Donzella and Miranda Wilson completed their MLT degrees through SUNY Broome while working full time at Laboratory Alliance’s Operations Center. Each passed her ASCP certification exam on her first attempt and both are thrilled to have school behind them.

Our Pulaski Patient Service Center received some national exposure on ABC World News, who was in Central New York on Tuesday, Nov. 28, to report on a snowstorm, as was covered by Syracuse.com in a story titled ABC’s World News Tonight with David Muir visits Syracuse as area is pounded with snow: ABC’s lead meteorologist Rob Marciano interviews Michelle Hughes who was shoveling snow outside a hair salon, A Cut Above, in Pulaski. Laboratory Alliance had a team of 15 runners and walkers participate in the Syracuse Workforce Run on Tuesday, June 20. Everyone had a great time on this beautiful night in Liverpool, with the race beginning at Onondaga Lake Park at 6:45 p.m. The Laboratory Alliance tent was stocked with sandwiches and water after the race and everyone received a free participation t-shirt! The event benefits AccessCNY.

Senior Administrative Assistant Deb Reed shares a last look at items donated by Laboratory Alliance employees to support the US Marine Corps Toys for Tots and the Salvation Army Food Drive campaigns. The mission of the U.S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots Program is to collect new, unwrapped toys as Christmas gifts for needy children in our community and to inspire and give them hope for a brighter future. The Salvation Army exists to meet human need wherever, whenever and however they can. By giving locally, you ensure that the people in your community get the help they need. In addition to the toys pictured here, we collected over 400 pounds of food and are grateful for the generosity of our employees.
