LOCATION: Laboratory Alliance of CNY - Syracuse, New York
ABOUT US: Laboratory Alliance is the area’s largest state-licensed laboratory, providing clinical and anatomic pathology testing to a 16-county region in Central New York. As the laboratory of choice for most local healthcare providers, more than 10 million tests are performed annually at our laboratories at our Operations Center in Liverpool and at Crouse Hospital in Syracuse, N.Y.

POSITION SUMMARY:
A Medical Technologist is a clinical laboratory scientists who performs clinical laboratory procedures and examinations pursuant to established and approved protocols of the Department of Health. May have contact with:
- Laboratory personnel, supervisors, managers
- Hospital employees, physicians, pathologists
- Vendors and regulatory or accrediting agencies
EDUCATION:
- A Medical Technologist must possess an B.S. Degree in Medical Technology or related field
- A Medical Technologist must possess a New York State license approved and granted by the NYS Department of Education and NYS Department of Health
- Limited or provisional permits, accepted
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND HAZARDS:
Exposure to communicable diseases, bloodborne pathogens, toxic substances, and other conditions common to a healthcare environment.

- Work environment is primarily a laboratory setting.
- Regularly both stationary and required to move about from work station to station
- Frequently required to perform duties associated with the use of a computer and laboratory instruments
- Ability to grasp small objects and perform tasks associated with eye-hand coordination
- Ability to distinguish details of objects less than a few feet away and determine and detect difference between size, color, numbers, shades, and brightness, as well as differentiate sounds.
- Frequently required to communicate with other staff
- Ability to frequently lift and maneuver up to 50 pounds.
