Collect One 5 mL gold (SST) or one green (sodium or lithium heparin) top tube.
Transport

2 mL serum or plasma frozen. (Min: 1 mL)

Remarks

Allow serum specimen to clot completely at room temperature. Separate serum or plasma from cells ASAP or within 2 hours of collection.

Stability

After separation from cells: Ambient: 1 week; Refrigerated: 1 week; Frozen: 2 months

Unacceptable Conditions

Specimen collected in EDTA, sodium fluoride, sodium citrate, or potassium oxalate. Grossly hemolyzed or lipemic specimens.
