Remarks

Collect in the routine manner using a broom-type collection device. Must be collected prior to the application of acetic acid or iodine. Other than cervical only rectal swabs submitted in a Thin Prep vial can be tested, but are sent to a reference lab.

Stability
  1. ThinPrep liquid cytology specimens should be stored at 2°C to 30°C for up to 30 days.
  2. ThinPrep liquid cytology specimens transferred to an APTIMA Specimen Transfer tube may be stored at 2°C to 30°C for up to 60 days.
  3. ThinPrep liquid cytology specimen or the ThinPrep liquid cytology specimen diluted into the APTIMA Specimen Transfer tube may be stored at -20°C to -70°C for up to 24 months.
