Notes | This test is for the collection and examination of pinworm, Enterobius vermicularis. Because of the migratory habits of the female pinworm, specimens are best obtained a few hours after the person has retired, between the hours of 9:00pm and midnight, or in the morning immediately upon rising before bathing or bowel movement. Collection of three to six consecutive specimens is recommended. Specimens should be obtained before therapy has begun. If therapy was initiated prior to collection of the specimen, this should be noted on forms accompanying the specimen. |
