Specimen Required
Collect

Three 3 mL whole blood in lavender (EDTA) top tube or two 5 mL whole blood in pink (K2EDTA) top tube.

Transport

7 mL whole blood ambient (Min: 5 mL).

* Collection Instructions *

  • Do not refrigerate or freeze.
  • Specimens submitted in yellow (ACD) top tube will no longer be accepted because of the high incidence of platelet clumping associated with this anticoagulant.
  • If the platelet count is less than 20,000/ccm, submit 7-10 mL of whole blood.
