Herpes Simplex Virus Type-Common Antibodies
Notes | Current (2021) CDC guidance on diagnosis of HSV infection does not recommend serological testing in asymptomatic individuals. Although prevalent in the population, HSV serological tests are insufficiently robust to provide a useful screening tool. Effective 4/1/2023, Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV) IgG and IgM type-common screening tests are no longer performed at Laboratory Alliance of CNY. Specific assays for HSV Glycoprotein G Type 1 IgG and Type 2 IgG will continue to be available with testing available daily Monday – Friday. See entry at HSV Type-Specific Glycoprotein-G Antibodies (HSV1 and HSV2). https://www.laboratoryalliance.com/tests/display/2792 Reference: CDC – Genital Herpes Screening , https://www.cdc.gov/std/herpes/screening.htm Page last reviewed: July 11, 2022 Content source: Division of STD Prevention, National Center for HIV, Viral Hepatitis, STD, and TB Prevention, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention |
