Specimen Required
Collect

One 5 mL gold (SST) top tube. Also acceptable: Lavender (K2EDTA or E3EDTA), pink (K2EDTA), or green (lithium heparin).

Transport

Allow specimen to clot completely at room temperature. Separate from cells ASAP or within 2 hours of colleciton. Transfer 1 mL serum or plasma (Min: 0.5 mL).

Stability

After separation of cells: Ambient: 8 days; Refrigerated: 2 weeks: Frozen: 2 years

Unacceptable Conditions

Grossly hemolyzed specimens.
