| Collect | One 6 mL gray (sodium fluoride & potassium oxalate) top tube. Also acceptable: Gold (SST) top tube if allowed to clot and then is promptly centrifuged. |
| Transport | 1 mL plasma at 2-8ºC. |
| Remarks | Obtain a blood glucose specimen from the patient ONE HOUR AFTER the patient finishes a 50 g. glucose load. The glucose is administered by a phlebotomist at a Patient Service Center. The patient is not required to fast prior to this test. |
