Specimen Required
Method(s)	Flow Cytometry
Collect	One 5 mL dark green (sodium heparin) tube. Also acceptable: lavender (EDTA) top tube or yellow ACD solution A or B whole blood. Label with patient name, date and time of draw. Pour-off tubes are no longer acceptable.
Transport	5 mL whole blood (sodium heparin or EDTA) at 20-25ºC. (Min: 0.5 mL) Submit in primary tube. Pour off tubes are unacceptable
Stability	Ambient: EDTA specimens - 72 hours; Sodium Heparin - 72 hours Refrigerated: Unacceptable Frozen: Unacceptable
Unacceptable Conditions	Clotted Hemolyzed Refrigerated specimens Frozen specimens Specimens sent in pour-off tubes Specimens collected in pink (K2EDTA) tubes Specimens collected in green lithium heparin tubes
