One 6 mL plain red or one gold (SST) top tube. Also acceptable: lavender (EDTA) or pink (K2EDTA) top tubes.

Transport

1 mL serum or plasma, CRITICAL FROZEN in an amber standardized transport tube. (Min: 0.6 mL) PROTECT FROM LIGHT.

Remarks

  • PROTECT FROM LIGHT during collection, storage and shipment.
  • Separate serum or plasma from cells within ONE hour of collection.
  • CRITICAL FROZEN.
  • Avoid hemolysis.
  • Separate samples must be submitted when multiple tests are ordered.
Stability

Separate serum or plasma from cells within one hour of collection. After separation from cells: Ambient: Unacceptable; Refrigerated: 1 month; Frozen: 6 months
