Notes

The concentration of free testosterone is derived from a mathematical expression based on the constants for the binding of testosterone to sex hormone binding globulin and albumin.

Results of the testosterone component of this test may be falsely elevated in patients taking over-the-counter biotin supplements.

Results of the SHBG component of this test may be falsely decreased in patients taking over-the-counter biotin supplements.
