Device Trials Specialist
Schedule: Full-Time - 1st Shift
POSITION:
LOCATION: Laboratory Alliance of CNY; Operations Center; Liverpool, NY 13088
ABOUT US: Laboratory Alliance is the area’s largest state-licensed laboratory, providing clinical and anatomic pathology testing to a 16-county region in Central New York. As the laboratory of choice for most local healthcare providers, more than 10 million tests are performed annually at our laboratories at our Operations Center in Liverpool and at Crouse Hospital in Syracuse, N.Y.

POSITION SUMMARY: Under the general direction of the Department Manager and Special Projects Coordinator, the Device Trials Specialist will utilize independent judgment to perform complex laboratory procedures on devices provided by in-vitro diagnostic companies for field trials or beta-site testing. May have frequent contact with laboratory personnel, pathologists, physicians, hospital employees, nursing personnel, visitors, vendors, regulatory and accrediting agencies.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operation of analytical equipment (including quality control, equipment maintenance, and troubleshooting), statistical analysis, quality assurance, and collation of data reports.
- Interaction with study monitors to generate cost proposals and other required documentation such as Investigational Review Board (IRB) approvals, contracts, etc.
- Interfacing with vendor representatives, scientists, and technical staff.
- Sample procurement based on requirements of study.
- Other duties assigned, as needed.
EDUCATION:
- Relevant Bachelor’s Degree; NYS licensed Medical Technologist preferred, not required.

- Exposure to communicable diseases, bloodborne pathogens, toxic substances, and other conditions common to a healthcare environment.

- The work environment is primarily a laboratory setting.
- The employee is regularly both stationary and required to move about.
- Frequently have ability to perform duties associated with the use of a computer and laboratory instruments.
- Must have ability to grasp small objects and tasks associated with eye-hand coordination.
- Must be able to distinguish details of objects less than a few feet away.
- Determine and detect difference between size, color, numbers, shades, and brightness, as well as differentiate sounds.
- Frequently required to communicate with other staff and have the ability to frequently lift and maneuver up to 50 pounds.
SKILLS AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Self-directed with excellent organizational and communication skills
- Demonstrate critical, analytical thinking ability, and good scientific judgment.
- Meticulous attention to detail.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel required.
- Proven interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to adapt to changing workload and stressful situations.
- Ability to learn and work independently as well as in group situations.
- Must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19, as per state regulations for healthcare workers.
