Collect 24-hour or random urine collection. Refrigerate during collection.

Refrigerated.

Remarks

Thoroughly mix entire collection in one container. Freeze specimen immediately after aliquoting. Do not exceed 4 mL in tubes.

Preserved: Transfer 4 mL to ARUP Transport tube with 20 mg Sulfamic Acid. Mix well (Min: 2.5 mL).

Alternative: If ARUP tube with Sulfamic Acid is not available, transfer 4 mL (Min: 2.5 mL) to ARUP Transport tube and adjust pH to 2.0-4.0 with 6M HCI.

Stability

Collection to initiation of testing: Unpreserved - Ambient: Unacceptable; Refrigerated: 1 week; Frozen: Undefined. Preserved - Ambient: Unacceptable, Refrigerated: 1 month, Frozen: 6 months

Unacceptable Conditions

Room temperature specimens. Specimens with pH greater than 7.
