| Notes | Precipitating antibodies against the offending antigens can be demontrated in most active cases of hypersensitivity pneumonitis. However, a positive test does not always indicate active disease since asymptomatic individuals may develop precipitins without any features of hypersensitivity. A positive test is a helpful diagnostic tool when supported by historical and clinical evidence. The absence of a positive test does not rule out hypersensitivity pneumonitis. |
