Specimen Required:
     Collect: One 5 mL gold (SST) top tube.
     Transport: 1 mL serum at 2-8ºC. (Min: 0.5 mL)
     Stability:  After separation from cells: Ambient: 2 days; Refrigerated: 2 weeks; Frozen: 1 year (avoid repeated freezed/thaw cycles)
     Unacceptable Conditions:  Plasma or other body fluids. Severly lipemic, contaminated, or hemolyzed specimens.

Notes:  Separate serum from cell ASAP. "Pre" and 30-day "post" Haemophilus influenzae b vaccination specimens should be submitted together for testing. "Post" specimen should be drawn 30 days after Immunization and must be received within 60 days of "pre" specimen. PLEASE clearly mark specimens "PRE-VACCINE" or "POST-VACCINE" so that specimens will be saved and and tested simultaneously.
Reference Interval
< 1.0 µg/mL = Antibody concentration not protective

e 1.0 µg/mL = Antibody to H. influenzae b detected. Suggestive of protection.
